The finish line is a stage

YEEP graduates on World Energy Day

Each cohort’s journey culminates at the World Energy Day Conference. Every year, YEEP finalists graduate on stage and present their energy projects to compete for the Energy Professional Awards — turning months of training and real facility work into national recognition.

It’s a tradition that has already produced award-winning work — including YEEP’s Innovative Energy Project of the Year at the AEE 2023 International Awards.

In their words

Voices from the programme

“YEEP gave me the opportunity to learn electrical engineering. Applying what I was taught in class on the sites, and looking for measures to improve energy savings and efficiency, is exciting. The session on emotional intelligence has largely impacted my life.”

— Cindy, YEEP Trainee

“YEEP has taught me practical skills different from what we were taught in campus. Essential skills have been of impact — now I know how to write great application letters and CVs, and I communicate and interact with people better. It is an amazing experience.”

— Nelson, YEEP Trainee

Frequently asked questions

What is YEEP?

The Youth in Energy Empowerment Programme is an internship programme run by Eenovators Limited that equips energy graduates aged 21–30 with practical skills, training and industry attachment — to position them for employment and to drive behavioural change in the energy industry.

How much does YEEP cost participants?

Nothing. YEEP is offered at no cost to the youth. It exists precisely because the high-value training most beneficial to young energy professionals is otherwise expensive and out of reach.

Who can apply?

Young energy professionals and graduates aged 21–30 across Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Each cohort runs a hybrid training phase followed by a 6-month industrial attachment.

How can my company get involved?

Organisations can host YEEP interns, benefiting from fresh talent, reduced energy costs, and a graduate pipeline. See the "Host a Site" page.
